When should you upgrade your SSD?
Mine is a 160GB that does 275MB/r 165MB/w. Space is becoming an issue but I keep shifting old data on mechanical drives, not sure if I should upgrade now or wait later.

you have some extra money you don't mind spending? upgrade now.
When SMART shows it's dying.
You should have upgraded a year ago when memory prices were at their lowest
Higher capacity ssds are usually faster. Upgrade when you need to like any other electronic

I don't use much on my home desktop, a 120GB SSD is sufficient for my OS and installed packages.
For videos and games and other media I use platter HDDs which are fast enough with far larger cappacity at the same cost.
Any games which heavily use the hard disk are generally poorly optimized at best you would get faster loading times, mostly benefit from an SSD when it comes to boot times since I shutdown/reboot my PC a lot, and to speed up certain applications loading to RAM.
