Lol sorry didn't check it for kde. I only used it for gcc once when portage added a broken version and I couldn't compile anything.

Anything based on gnome pulls in net-libs/webkit-gtk and that shit alone takes three times longer than a full kde-apps/kde-meta installation.

I takes me about 2h to compile KDE on a i7 with j5 enabled. 40 min? Good luck!
