>use windows 7 and 8.1 on my computers because industrial design
>have a bunch of icons on the desktops and laptop
>group them by purpose, about 10 for one thing, 10 for another thing, 20 for some other project
>log in/log out or restart pc or some program crashes
>all icons are automatically grouped by name now
What the fuck is this, is it that big of a deal in 2017 to remember the icons position? This fucking shit goes back to XP, jesus christ what a shitfest, can't wait to ditch Windows entirely in a couple of months.

Fucking brainlet. Why do you need to click icons? Are you 10?

time consuming

If you grouped your icons in folders instead of throwing them all on the desktop you wouldn't have this issue.
>>60901975
>Auto arrange icons
The fucking option just sits there in the right click menu at desktop and you have the audacity to say you aren't a retard and open up a fucking thread instead of posting in /sqt/ like the retard you are.

You'll come back unless you ease into changing an OS, dual boot for example. Immediately going to another OS is painful. You won't know what to do 90% of the time and you'll end up abandoning the switch. It happened to me the first time I tried linux. I used it for a week before abandoning it. Thankfully, I learned how to use it properly within a few months the next time I tried it and was dualbooting windows only for non-Linux games and software. Now I'm 100% on linux. You just have to accept the fact that you, in fact, can live without windows as an OS and games whose developers are lazy and don't port their shit to Mac and Linux.
To be fair the same thing happened to me with Mac OS, I ended up selling the Macbook to a friend.

I've been coming here way longer than you kiddo. I don't want to fit in with /g/

You should press F5 to reload the desktop. This'll make sure all your icons positions are saved. Also, if you your monitors fuck up at the logon screen, fix it before logging on or expect every icon to be fucked.
