Wrist shots should be taken at a distance, in a mirror. So often I notice watches that should be fine for people looking way bigger than they should because of closeup and the angle.

wow, yeah that is really hideous, I wonder why they only put that movement in one diver. I wonder if that bezel can be swapped out, I am going to check out some citizen forums and see. Maybe I could have it cerecoated black and mask off the numbers

I am thinking about forgetting the diver part and getting something like this

Nothing, there was a period when someone was shilling them hard in /wt/ so there's still bad feelings from that.

The Ocean One Titanium is very nice for example, I'm quite tempted by one.

>>
>>60859435
That is exactly the one I want to know about, nice reliable ETA now instead of that meme movement it originally had
>>
>>60859482
Its really fucking good on paper but it is big man.. You need to try one on before buying.
>>
>>60859547
I've read the titanium isn't as durable and that concerns me. I wear a 40mm easy so I think I can swing 44mm but I just want it to last forever with minimal care
>>
What is the perfect watch size and why is it 36-40mm?
>>
>>60859637

I would honestly look at teh standard ocean 1. its 42mm which is an acceptable size for a diver although not ideal. it costs less money. Its steel and durable and has a 2824 in it which is bomb proof.. Only negative is that the seiko has wayy better lume.
>>
>>60859668
That one looks like a submariner and frankly I'm not a fan of that design. Really like the ocean 500, different enough in a good way
Is the 2892-A2 TOP not a superior movement?

Much better than the 2824.

>>
>>60858885

I've just been looking at some and it pisses me off how expensive they are. It's a fucking thing which rotates. It doesn't even need to be accurate or anything; It's not like people watch their winders all day. It just needs to generate enough movement to keep your watch ticking. There's no reason these things should cost more than £20 unless it's a fancy multi-watch winder. I don't understand how they are consistently over £50 at the cheapest.

Trust me.
You have no idea how fucking annoying a cheap winder can sound when you're trying to get to sleep.
Fucking cheap plastic creaking and rubbing against itself.
Rotor whining into the night.

While yeh, there are some serious jew ones out there, cheaping out on a winder isn't something I'd recommend. Unless you don't sleep in the same room as it.

>>
>>60860905

that is not an "automatic" mechanical watch
>>
>>60861005
After 2024, you use a virtual perpetual calendar to see which years correspond to the one you want, and then you set the year to one of those. For example, 2025 has the same calendar as 2003 and 2014, so you can choose either of those and the dates will be correct for 2025.

so after 2024 you only have to set it once a year

all perpetual calendar mechanicals have a year at which they stop working automatically

yeah 2100 and every real mechanical watch that has a perpetual calendar complication is extremely expensive.

Why make any mechanical watch nicer than an SKX007?

Some people want high end luxury watches in nice cases and don't want to fuck with a mechanical that will have to be reset if it's not worn for 48 hours

You can buy a car that is faster than a Bentley and holds just as many people, why does the Bentley cost more?

If you want accuracy just use your phone, that's quartz too. The whole point of expensive watches is the mechanical engineering involved. If I spend that much on a watch it damn well better be manual or even better automatic.
>>
>>60862300
Just to add since I looked it up..

The date changes in 1/2000th of a second
Twin pulse control motor
Ability to adjust its accuracy like an automatic

also seiko grows their own quartz
>>
>>60862337
>If you want accuracy just use your phone, that's quartz too. The whole point of expensive watches is the mechanical engineering involved. If I spend that much on a watch it damn well better be manual or even better automatic.

Other people don't feel that way. Lots of people who have many watches get tired of resetting their manuals and want a nice auto after a while

let's say that GS could be had with either a mechanical or quartz movement as options

the case would still be $1500

the fucking bracelet, just the bracelet from a rolex submariner (i am talking about a plain steel one here) is $1100 used

>sometimes I stay underwater for months, I need a perpetulel calendar

Divers and perpetual calendars don't go together. Perpetual calendars need to be worn most of the time to keep the complication running, and you can't wear a diver all the time because it's a fucking toolwatch.
Be it a Submariner or a Bathyscaphe, it'll never look good with a dinner jacket or even in a business casual setting, regarfless what bingwhore Chinese or nouveau riche Russians might have you believe.

Also a diver watch must be tough and shock resistant, and a perpetual calendar adds needless complexity and points of failure.

The combination you're asking for is totally misguided and thus tacky, I doubt any serious manufacturer offers something similar.

What's next? A chrono minute repeater?

I wouldn't buy a diver from them again until they switch to C3 lume. Got a C60 Trident Pro 600 for half off, and not only is it not very readable because of the low contrast between the white face and silver hands, the lume is dogshit. C1 is a joke. At least it's really pretty and hard to scratch. It's a hell of a shame, I kinda like their diver chrono, the price doesn't seem bad either. I know you can get a Seiko column wheel chrono for the same cash, but I don't think I'll be able to find someone to service it.

>>
>>60863202
Lug to lug length is 50mm. Probably too big. I have the same wrist size and find 48mm lug to lug just fits me. The turtles are 48mm lug to lug and the SKX is 46mm lug to lug.
>>
>>60863253
>>60863202

I've been tempted to get a turtle but just can't stand that second hand. Are there still QA issues with dented bezels and misaligned chapter rings?

Dented bezels probably not. Chapter ring is likely to be a little off. I got used to mine being a bit off.

The same reason that some people here have an adverse reaction to watches with 45mm diameters.
Also, a decent percentage of its size is the solid-color dial, so that can make it look larger on the wrist than other 37mm watches.

These are replicas, they are meant to fool people into thinking you have a $8000 watch. They do this by spending money on the finish and sapphire and ceramic bezel etc... they sacrifice on tolerances and water resistance.

They are not "nice" watches, they are meant just to look good, not to be durable or water resistant or reliable and serviceable.

an SKX007 is a nicer watch for being a watch than any replica because you are paying for the quality of the functionality of the watch, not for it to look like something it is not

I wore a seamaster 2254.50 almost every day for 5 years. Trips to the field, the beach, sitting at the cubicle in front of a computer. Out to bars, clubs, concerts, traveling, all of it. I didn't baby that watch at all. It kept remarkable time and I never had a problem with flooding or anything like that. It's been sitting in my box for a while since it's about ready for a service and I have dozens of other watches to pick from, though.

you notice it was spelled "shitheart" It was intended as as joke. The real advice was the vintage Omega. The vintage Omega would be the better buy then the seiko. If the left Seiko had a nicer simpler dial i would say that would not be a horrible buy..
>>
>>60869420
But honestly the shitty steinhart does have a better movement...... the finishing on the other hand is garbage tier.
>>
Realistically how much should i pay for a scve seiko spirit (dot)
