Thoughts on google amp? I actually like using it for convenience but Ive noticed it getting a lot of hate

I kinda like it but I need to learn how it works properly.
Google AMP is basically just proper mobile webdev enforced by Google, plus some botnet JS. Stop gooping everything up with 20MB of JS, CSS, fonts, and media files and you get the same responsiveness.

I used to not like AMP pages because if I wanted to share the URL of an page I'd end up with https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.website.com/example/amp/ when I copied the address bar and I'd have to manually remove all the extra Google AMP stuff to get just the site URL. Now that that is fixed (they added a button in the top bar that'll display the normal URL) I mostly don't mind them.
Another somewhat annoying issue that still exists is that there's some websites where I prefer to use the desktop version and if I enter that website by writing the URL in the address bar the website will remember I want to use the desktop version (there's probably a cookie for that), but if I open that same site from a Google search result and it's a AMP page then it'll be mobile version of the site.
