Hey /g/uys, wondering if anyone could offer some help with home networks.
Basically, I have a fairly crappy ISP - around 30mb/s. It's ok but I need to make the most of it. I want to have a powerline adapter to take the signal from my router, which is downstairs, all the way to my attic. From here I want the other powerline adapter to both clone the wifi signal and offer an ethernet connection, with minimal loss to my speeds.
My questions are as follows:
a) will running a powerline adapter straight into my computer via ethernet run the risk of damaging the mobo?
b) will surge protected outlets offer protection to the mobo? What kind of impediment to speeds are we looking at because of the surge protection?
Sorry if these are basic bitch questions but I figured this would be a good place to get some solid advice.
Thanks in advance
