Help me out guys, I'm at work bored I have this radio that has fuckton of static unless I stay a foot away with my hand touching it, if I back up away from it the music gets distorted badly. Any adjustments I can make with shitty antenna or anything?

Signal is too weak. You interfere with the signal strength when you're close and the receiver cranks up the AGC to compensate. This widens the receiver bandwith hence all the static.
Get a better antenna. Try some TV rabbit ears.
