AMD vs. Intel is a different fight than AMD vs. Nvidia though. AMD can't sneak up on Nvidia like they did Intel since Nvidia have already created an ecosystem around CUDA that AMD can't just walk into. They don't have any secret GPU technologies, it's not like Nvidia is unaware of HBM2, they just chose to skip a gen since they were worried about availability.
