I would like to overclock my 7700k, but upon asking over the Intel forums on how to one of their community managers told me it would void the warranty. I was then told I needed to buy this "Performance Tuning Protection Plan" to both have the right to overclock and protect my CPU?

Is this common practice?

Lying and cheating is bad though. Plus my CPU might explode if I do not buy this. It's here for a reason.

Sell your computer, buy a Mac. They're built for people who are incapable of even slightly critical thought, such as yourself.
