Does GNOME really not have an answer to KDE Connect?
I'm using GNOME, but I've just recently learned of Connect and it might be enough to make me switch over.
I've read that you can get Connect working with GNOME, but I must ask, is it smooth? Does it look out of place? Is it a hacked-together solution, or does it look coherent?

Nope

Yes

Most likely

I don't know.
All it does is just allow you to access the setting panel for kde-connect without needing KDE (because IIRC it was like this back in the KDE4 days), and creates a tray icon that shows the info KDE would have in its tray.
