Hello /g/entoomen,
I want VMware experience, because having QEMU on my resume is worthless. Couple of questions for my fellow Sys Admins:
-Is there any way to get VMware software for home use only? (for labs) Or should I just pirate the entire suite?
-Do you have any good sites for study materials?
-Do you know if you have to take the associate class first before you can take the admin class? (For vSphere)?
-Have any if you take a professional boot camp for this or similar technology? (considering getting my boss to buy it for me). Was it worth it?
Thanks in advance for any info!!!

And by associate "class" I meant "Test". Mistyped.

Literally just google "esxi" and you can download it. Some features like vmotion are restricted for paid licensed use but vmware are pretty liberal about their free features.
>Do you have any good sites for study materials?
Honestly if you're real green then just get familiar with it at home and have your work pay for the course.
>Do you know if you have to take the associate class first before you can take the admin class? (For vSphere)?
The course will specify if there are prerequisites - I have no idea where you are or what courses are available to you.

100% worth it. Search "vm600 course" - there's really no better way to learn since they go over everything you would even need to know about VMware in a real world job. No bullshit.
