Arch isn't even. The shit just werks. Drop the '07 memes, already. Most distros are perfectly stable these days. Rice fags are the ones breaking things, not regular users.

Does arch even have a proper installer?

Yeah.

The problem with non-"hobby" distros is that they preconfigure too much, which inherently either 1) breaks things or 2) limits the user.

I try hard to install and use, say, openSUSE, but I always end up going back to Arch because:
1. Zypper is extremely slow. APT is a bit better, but you still have to go through many repositories to easily install some programs. AUR gives you basically everything you could want + more.
2. Where YaST tries to make things easy, it overcomplicates other things, like installing a simple Skype or Spotify package. Pacaur on Arch does this all for me and does it extremely quickly.
3. While rolling release distros are inherently going to have bugs and broken packages, it's kind of nice having the latest version of Plasma, among other things, without having to go out of my way to download out-of-repository packages to obtain it. Bugs are usually fixed very quickly, and if something breaks on Arch (which is actually pretty rare from my experience), a simple downgrade command will revert to a previous version of said package. Also, nobody says you have to update every single day.

I agree that Arch is very much a hobbyist distro, but it works for me and if it weren't for its simplicity and speed, I wouldn't return to it all the time when I try to install and enjoy other distros.

Wrong Maki, I'm not trying to transform it into my daily driver, I already DID that 2 years ago.
