I want to buy a good commercial cross platform application, but I don't know which GUI toolkit to use. It may be closed source, too.

You can buy a non-GPLd QT license so you can use it for your proprietary programs without releasing the code and changes you use.
Honestly a lot of desktop class applications now run in the web browser like MS office or Discord or Spotify etc. Users would flock much more easily if they don't have to download and install
