Still rocking an overclocked T6600 in my main machine, turning 8 years old this summer..

Yes, you could upgrade to a low power anything and be perfectly fine. Try to get one that has an SSD or allows for easy upgrades.

I don't know why I thought those details would suffice. Sorry. It's a 6 year old Dell XPS 15. I did replace the primary hard drive with an SSD. I'm even running Lubuntu to stop overusing resources and keep the fan speed at a minimum.
