Mega patched the bypass for bandwidth limit which megadownloader and many other downloaders were using so we are no longer to able to download large files (5gb+) without changing IP address.

Programs confirmed not working: Megadownloader, megatools, jdownloader, mipony.

Currently only ways to download files that exceed 5GB in size are:

1.Using VPN and megadownloader. Once you get the error stop your downloads, exit megadownloader, turn on VPN and switch to a different location, open megadownloader again and resume. Downloads should continue fine. download speed I'm getting with free VPN(it is throttled by a lot, but at least it works)

2.Using VPN and megasync. Import files to your account and start downloading with megasync. When the 5gb limit is met use your VPN to switch location. Download should resume in a couple of seconds. (credit: /u/WrenchMonkey319)

3.If you have a dynamic IP, you can reset your router or use Reset-TCPIP.exe

Damn, thank god I downloaded that q2 edit from MEGA before this was a thing.

But yeah, I don't know why anyone would say DDL is better than torrents.
>>
>>60756003
We should use both.

The best is using private torrents and private DDL sites.
>>
>>60755708
Private torrent trackers have been the best way to get pirate material for about the last 10 years. Almost all of the good ones are invite only and maintain strict scene standards and ratios, so downloads remain line speed (200mbit for me) and you can set up filters/rules so you can grab content like TV automatically without the need to actually refresh the site.
>>
>>60756003
cause public torrents suck ass and is an easy way to get a nice letter to your home if you live in the first world.
>>
>>60756136
>>60756071

>>
>>60756177

>>

>not using ipfs
>not using ANY p2p file transfer solution
For over a decade we've learned that centralized systems are anything but reliable or resilient. Rapidshare became unusable, megaupload died, and people seriously thought it would be a smart idea to use megaupload 2.0 as if it wouldn't be the same thing. There's way, WAY too many other filelockers that are were used that are now dead, people use some now that are going to die. Stop doing this. things like bittorrent magnets never die as long as ANYONE has a copy, ipfs hashes are even more resilient. Uploading to central servers makes no sense unless you do not care about retaining access to a file.
>>

No longer
>>
>>60756457
None of the sites people used exist anymore, the ones people use today either delete files on request or have insane restrictions. I can't see a single reason to use DDL over P2P, I didn't see it then and I really don't see it now, it's only gotten worse.

People used to argue "speed" was the reason, but that's not the case anymore unless you pay up, not to mention quotas and other limits.

Stop buying this MPAA propaganda, there are plenty of trackers that add fake ips to their swarmlist for the sake of plausible deniability. If ISPs really sent out these letters as much as people claim they do, you'd see it even if you didn't torrent anything. The fact of the matter is that those letters are very rare. Regardless if you do get one you need to switch to a better ISP and stop funding people who do not care about your privacy as a customer.

I'm thinking about paying the $5 a month for that. I won't be able to do my 2TB a month data hogging sessions again but whatever. Still prefer a decent DDL service that uses nearly my full internet speed than trying to keep a ratio on a private tracker and dealing with VPNs.

My only problem is that I'm having a hard time finding a decent payment method to use. Does anyone know a good website where I can pay for bitcoins in small increments with PayPal? Don't really trust mega with my card info.

That's bullshit. They'd have to prove it was him at the computer, they'd have to actually find the material on his computer (hence why the feds come in and take the computers on a raid). And you can't be on a sex offender list just for being suspected, there is something called presumption of innocence in law.

It's certainly not a good thing to be tied to, but generally what law enforcement can use such information for is just to investigate more and collect real evidence. Accidentally downloading some cp is something every /b/tard has done at some point just because they left a window open taking a piss.

>are you sure this is news? every PC game piracy site I use has been splitting the archives into 4.8 or 4.9GB chunks for years.

it's news in the sense that Kim Dotcom was all about preventing this type of shit with megaupload and Mega, until he realized that he could use it as an excuse to make a bigger profit off of his userbase without pissing off governments.

Seriously, just kill yourself. Your mother made a mistake, and it's time for you to rectify it. Save us the trouble of having to deal with you

So what? Been using private trackers for nearly 5 years now. Never had a problem.
>>
>>60774108
Just because you were lucky doesn't mean other people don't get caught through private trackers

The chance might be a bit lower, but no real protection is provided
>>
If you are going the pay2pirate route why not just get a Use net sub?
>>
Yeah i was just hit by this for the first time today when i tried to download a repack, i woke up and checked JDL only to see this bandwith limit shit all of a sudden

Luckily i can change my IP from inside firefox with one single click thanks to that router extension
>>
>>60774180
Me and my family has Usenet for years and got caught and fined through it
>>
>>60774179
I use them with tens of thousands of other people. Nothing serious has happened to anybody.
>>

>Remember when you retards said that streaming sites and DDL are better than torrents?
>This is why p2p always beats your stupid server-based piracy.

Yeah, private torrent sites like Oink, What.cd, BlackCats, BitGame, and Underground Gamer are so much better.
>>
>>60774322
The great thing about private trackers is that when one shuts down, new ones come up or existing ones admit people.

When What.cd shut down, I simply asked the recruiter from the replacement site, RED to give me an invite. I am now a RED member. Feels good :)

Lol I love how you fags think we haven't thought of what to do when one tracker goes down. Most people have at least 5 private tracker accounts. I have 15.

So what are the BC and BG replacements? I only know Gazelle Games.

What tracker do you use for software? I have a ptp account but cant invite anyone because the site is full. You'd need to show some kind of proof that you know how to act on a private tracker anyways.
>>
>>60755708
Don't know if related, but I've noticed many Uploaded accounts have been banned.
>>
>>60774592
Definitely related
>>
>>60774475
You won't become a powerful agency if you didn't please Mr. Shekelstein, dumbass.

Only if you upload to MEGA publicly.

The private MEGA sites are fine, from what I can see on both my accounts.

IPFS with i2p integration. Zeronet has all the shortcomings of bittorrent as well as some of its own, it's not very modular/extensible, their id system conflicts with anonymity as well.
>>

I've been downloading for years now, not often a new or popular movie but occasionally it will be. Downloaded Logan the other week and no letters.

If you go with Broadband on AT&T they give you a static IP. DSL is the only one that gives you a dynamic IP.

And they upload that copy.

It's functionally dead once everyone stops seeding, even if plenty of copies are out there.

10 year old mediafire/4shared links still sometimes work, 10 year old forgotten torrents? fucked.

you're idiotic.
If a provider starts doing stupid shit like imposing limits to people who don't pay, the correct response is not to start giving them money. Any self-respecting uploader is going to stop giving them content if they're going to get jewish with it.
>>
stupid question but does this also apply when downloading my own files?
>>
>>60756505
this is why you should always keep "good standing" with a decent private tracker, even if you're not using it all the time. just get a good enough ratio to not get pruned, keep up activity on the site a bit. having that cred makes it much easier to get into other trackers with or without invites. it helps if like me you have active accounts from years and years ago when invites were going around 4chan like free candy. but even if you're a complete newb, just sign up to a smaller, "up and coming" private tracker, or a tracker that is open and part of a larger network. I forget the site but there is one that will tell you about trackers that have open registration. those especially usually have lenient ratio policies and/or ways for new people or people without great connections/seedboxes to get good ratio. one thing you will need though, is storage, if you plan on keeping the things you download and always seeding them, which on most trackers is how you build the best ratio/account status. so have a 1TB HD at least for video/game content.

i can't imagine being so inept at file identification that i'd be a private torrent user
