I'm currently using Ghostery and DuckDuckGo is my primary search engine.
How much of this is useful and how much of it is a security blanket?

Ghostery is owned by an ad company, i'd use literally anything else.
DDG is a Bing frontend, and bing fucking sucks.

looks good OP, keep doing your thing
I suggest installing web of trust and hola vpn as well

use privacy badger instead of ghostery

Chrome/Chromium/Gmail/Android is owned by a ad company.

>privacy badger
biggest piece of shit ever. nothing fucking works after installing that.
personally, I use Ghostery because you can easily enable comments and video playback.

it's identical to ghostery, maybe you're just dumb
Use Ublock Origin and searx.me/startpage.com
Make sure you enable the privacy filter on it.

your point?

>bing
DDG pulls data from Bing, Yahoo, Yandex and others: https://duck.co/help/results/sources
It takes money, lots of money to build a search engine. Unless you're a botnet funded by a massive ad network like Google or Bing, it's very, very hard to compete. The only good thing about DDG is they obfuscate you from being monitored directly.
