I know it's just shitposting but honestly plasma is not bloated anymore, not resource wise and not visually wise for most programs under the kde umbrella. Of course there's more obscure programs that has not been maintained in a lot of time and may be dropped in the future but regarding the most common ones, including the ones by default has received a facelift to only show sane defaults when still giving the option to show the tools you need for your personal use case.

Regarding the resources KDE Neon uses for me around 500MB on boot which for an extremely well featured environment that is not supposed to be lightweight is extremely good. At least much better than windows in my own experience, honestly if it not were for a pair of programs i would never boot windows again.

Don't let yourself to be fooled guys, try by yourselves. If you want a WM that uses 100-200MB that's a different issue of course.

This is very debatable but you can cope with Microsoft's bullshit as much as you want.

>Corporations collect data so they can produce shit better fitting to the sheeps
Are you sure this is the case for Microsoft? Go and read the privacy statement if you haven't, and yes, on the top it says:
>References to Microsoft products in this statement include Microsoft services, websites, apps, software and devices.
So don't come telling us that "i-i don't think that applies to windows, only things like skydrive".
The fact is that Microsoft's terms are extremely wide about what they can do. If Microsoft don't have a record on being unethical this wouldn't be a so bad problem but due to it's record on being shitty i recommend you to be wary at least.

> but since Im not a sheep I use what I find useful
k

>I dont give a fuck about targeted ads either
That's up to you of course, but, just in case, don't shit on the people that cares please, Windows is already very expensive unless you beg for a cheap key to your school or work.

>since I block every single ad in existence
This is one of the reasons why people got upset with the forced updates, microsoft can do whatever they want and you cannot say no. So unless you want to use an older version of Windows or if you want to fight against your own software provider which honestly should be treating their customers as good as possible i consider it doesn't worth the hassle. Unless you're absolutely obligated to use windows and if you absolutely need a program that has no viable alternative for you, don't work on wine and that don't work well in a virtual machine i would recommend to at least give a fair chance to other more respectful alternatives. For your own sake i hope to be wrong.

Well no wonder I never had this problem. I'm on Arch.
I found KDE Neon not to work all that nicely because only the KDE packages get updated to the latest verson. You might want to look into using rolling distro.

Manjaro might be a good choice if you only used Ubuntu, but I haven't used it myself. It's basically lagging a bit behind Arch making it more stable.

kcalc wasn't even installed by default on kde neon, so I guess you can't call it the default kde calculator.
Here is the calculator I use with kde (which is default)
>>
>>60743967
KDE neon is practically ubuntu 16.04 with a repository to keep all KDE's software updated to the most recent version, so most things that work for 16.04 also works for neon. In your case the only thing you need was to install the libreoffice-gtk and libreoffice-style-breeze packages to fix the problem. Sadly i find that the software store (discover) from KDE still needs a lot of work, it should be labeled a beta as best, i would recommend you to grab your software from synaptic if plasma discover gives you problems.
>>
>>60744228
What you're saying is true but i never claimed that kcalc is the default calculator in kde, what i said is that the pics are how kcalc looks with the default theme on plasma. I don't know if kcalc is supposed to be the default calculator for the averge joe on KDE but mind that the default installation of Neon is pretty minimal, it just includes the DE + the minimum essentials and let's the person to choose the rest of their software.
>>
>>60744102
I used chakra for a while.
It had a great kde setup and stuff like the correct firefox in the main repo.
But it is a pain if to use if you work with people who use ubuntu as you constantly have to install old libraries so you can compile their code.
