"FLUENT" Design..

This stupid touch shit has to go away

While the implementation looks bad, the idea is not.
Apart from KDE, no gtk themes do that

>Although to some it may seem that this is just eye candy, it’s important to keep the interface fresh and modern looking. It’s very easy to fall into the trap of keeping something that works ok just because people are familiar with it, but not using the interface as something that can be adjusted and improved over time.
This attitude is stupid, moronic, and wrong, and people believing it is one of the biggest problems with the tech industry today. It promotes style over substance and change for change's sake, both of which are actively harmful.

So no one should improve anything?
>>60732275
Not sure how you missed it considered it's covered in literally every single article about it but a big part of this is how it looks in motion

>>So no one should improve anything?
not in the UI area. Because 98% of UI improvements are just "Well we've had it this way for almost two years, lets throw it out and do something different just to have something to do" Or because they want to cover up the fact that no substantive improvements have been made, so they make it look different to disguise the lack of progress.
the best UI is a consistent, stable UI, not one that's had whatever shit is the latest fad among graphic design fags dumped all over it.

And it's still shit. Where did all the competent developers from the Vista/7 days go?
>>60732977
My knicker. Vista had the best design.
>>60733049
I can agree with this
>>60732620
The whole reason for the ribbon in Office was to be able to get people to upgrade despite having little to no technical improvements since 2003.
looks good

>Well we've had it this way for almost two years, lets throw it out and do something different just to have something to do
iTunes is exactly like this and they almost always make it worse.

At the very least, try to make such refreshes optional and leave the previous available for those who want it.
>backwards compatibility is such a hassle
>let's just force our constantly changing tastes on the masses and make it sound like it's the hip thing to do
This must be the mentality that killed off Windows Classic and Aero.

Arc Darker has some transparency. Not a lot, though.

what a stupid fashion
>>60732620
but that's how design work in general, if we were to keep always the same looking stuff we would still dress like in the 60s, is that what you want ? High colored shirts and bad looking haircuts ? geez
