How do you guys feel about extended guarantees on electronics? Are hey worth it or a scam?

Some credit cards offer free extended warranties on electronics.

Depends on the item and how much you'll be relying on it. High-end laptop, smartphone, or camera I would say yes, but only if the company selling the extended warranty had a good record of living up to their end of the bargain.
no. if they have confidence in their product they'll offer you a free warranty. many memory manufacturers offer lifetime warranties.
I wouldn't buy a TV or equally large purchase unless it came with 5 years repair/replace as standard.

Most companies only offer repair service or replacement for faulty hardware though, so you're not actually covered for a lot of shit that could potentially go wrong with the product

To be fair, I've never bought an extended warranty myself. None of my purchases have fallen into the 'high end' range of devices where I would think about it.
