If you want to pinch your pennies hard, get the X5600 series or the W3600 series and ride it for another year. You'll probably hit 4.0-4.2GHz, unless you win the lottery and get one of the few that will hit 4.5-4.6GHz on air without going over voltage (don't count on it). They're like $30 to $50. It can't be beat as a budget upgrade.

If you have some money to throw around, a Ryzen 1600/1600X is a great step up. It'll be hand-over-fist superior, and you can get it going quickly now that the board drought is over. It'll also cost about 10 times more than the Xeon, assuming you carry over your case/psu/drives/gpu.

I wouldn't bother with the 7600K.

I see alot of bullshit in here, a 1366 hexa core will run games for years on stock, even better overclocked.

The reason I ask about the rest of your stuff is if you got a good motherboard/cooling and psu, you could get a e5649 for $30 and overclock it to over 4ghz+ quite easily..

Even my old x3470 quadcore @ 3.8ghz for socket 1156 can run everything I've thrown at it without a problem, about equal to your 920..

Right now I'm running a e5649 @ 4.2ghz on a r3e with 12gb ram, and I can tell you it won't struggle anytime soon.

I'll be happy to run some benchmarks if requested.. Only have a Gtx770 in there now, will throw in the 1060 6gb next weekend.

You may be on the edge on ram, not sure. How much of your ram does it use playing the game? And cpu load?
