iOS doesn't delete shit off your phone, but if you bought an app and it gets pulled off the App Store, you're pretty much out of luck. You can't install an app from a 3rd party source unless you're jailbroken, whereas on Android it's much simpler. And as people have said in posts above, doesn't happen if you disable auto updates (which are bad in iOS too if you have an aging device)
