Hey /g/bros
I have a 2014 MacBook Pro with the latest OS update.
When I close the lid, it takes about 2 minutes to sleep.
Should I do a fresh install of the OS? Or is there an easy fix?

Its probably storing what was in ram to the HDD. Too many things open? Thats my guess. You could always boot with cmd + r to load up internet recovery. But back up your files before a fresh install

literally lmaoing at your life choices rn
I have the same one running Mavericks, runs smooth as butter. Just install Mavericks or something.

I usually quit Chrome before I close the lid so it's the most ram intensive app I run besides Photoshop.
It used to sleep ok upon lid closure.
Funny thing is this thing has a NVMe SSD so it should write to sleep image faster?

El Capitan was amazing, but I got bamboozled into macOS Sierra. :(

I've have a 13" mid-2014 rMBP. I've noticed it wont go to sleep always when it is playing back video content. Also check the two corners of the wrist rest, there should be a magnet in each corner, and i'm assuming associated hall effect sensors in the screen. Check to see if one of the magnets managed to get demagetizied.

Seems ok on this end desu. I think my OS install is screwed, because this is like the 4th major OS update and I haven't done a fresh install in forever.

I have a 2015 MacBook Pro and I don't have this problem with Sierra.
