Okay mates, thanks.

My question is pretty simple, I would love to have my cloud stuff with OwnCloud, so I though on running it on Lighttpd.

The thing is, I'm very concerned about leaving holes or bad security settings since it is Lighttpd + PHP and I can't find anything about security related. I found a few tutorials but I don't want to leave a big hole on my little server.

I only know (atm) that I should use chroot but that's all)

Yes, but I thought this would be different. China! Russia! Hackers! Defending critical infrastructure from cutting-edge security threats!

Nah, I need to develop a mission statement in a charter for an ISMS where I develop a performance measurement methodology to determine compliance with the ISMS roadmap to our long-term plan and define stakeholders so that we can establish mitigation plants for residual risks determined in the risk assessment process based on defined scope and applicability statement, then ensure that the infosec program follows a plan-check-do-act cycle and is communicated with staff as a part of our security awareness program that also involves distributing annually-checked security policies that include a communications and social media policy governing communication of appropriately-classified information to third parties and considers approved encryption technologies that are implemented according to a documented information handling process on which employees are tested via random internal audit processes.

I am a patent attorney. A lot of people in this profession write articles, blog and twitter, and in my firm I have this duty. So while I commute to work I make a not of interesting news that we tweet about from an intellectual priperty rights (IPR) point of view.

I also keep a second set of news that I use to contribute here, just to show how cyb the world has become while hardly anyone noticed.

>Also, although I will check bbc more often, I will be more interesting in "on live" or "recent" events. Do you have somethong or some tips?

"BBC Future" and even more "BBC Future Now" are full of gems. Science and Nature also have interesting things but are far more dry in the presentation.

Wired used to be good but has declined. Boingboing is better. Google news search can also be useful.

>>
>>60729888
It is not the easiest anime to understand and even the makers were exhausted:

>NieA_7 is based on a doujinshi by graphic designer Yoshitoshi ABe and published by Kadokawa Shoten. Much of NieA_7's staff was made up of people who had worked on Serial Experiments Lain (director Takuya Sato was the storyboard artist for Lain, Yoshitoshi ABe was the character designer for Lain, etc.); it is commonly supposed that they chose to do this light-hearted series to cool off[1] after the dark and psychologically intense Serial Experiments Lain. This idea is further supported by the character Chiaki, a UFO fanatic who shares a name with Chiaki J. Konaka, the script writer for Lain.

If you want to try some stealth-/cyb/ I would recommend Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou.

Also: please keep thread alive.

OP here. I don't think it makes sense to remove it. You can't control the quality of content in a thread any more than you can in the IRC. It is what we make of it.

Mods and admins of the channel are in that screenshot. Quality control isn't intended there and with self control down to a minimum the topic only lives in the channel motd.

WannaCry would constantly try and connect to a domain, and if it could then it shut down, for testing in a sandbox environment as a failsafe.

Trust me. I'd rather not, but there are no real alternatives. I don't know how this is possible, but Notepad still doesn't exist on the internet in 2017. I would use Teknik, but it doesn't let you edit. I could host them all on cyberpunked.org, but then that defeats the purpose of a 'backup' site.

Who wouldn't want an AI companion that grows/learns with you.

Give your daughter an AI on her phone when she's 5. They grow up together, and sure the phone AI might be dumb, but it's still just smart enough to hold conversations and have a basic personality.

It's going to become a reality. One of the big things that hits probably in the 2030's or 2040's. EVERYONE will have one of these personal assistants/friends.

>One of the big things that hits probably in the 2030's or 2040's. EVERYONE will have one of these personal assistants/friends.
I can believe that.

So let's run with that idea. We are approaching a future where
- few have any jobs (AIs and bots took them)
- most are in good health (CRISPR)
- tech is personalised, concierge services on stereoids
- much of what is routine is automated and done behind the scenes (tax returns, other paper works, booking tickets etc)
- we get mechanical robots that do the driving, flying, laundry and tuck us in for the night, a robot we will grow up with
- we will probably hardly need money, basic pay will come as bots dominate the workplace

So what will we do with the new found freedom?
>>
>>60765847
>few have any jobs
I know this is bound to happen eventually, but I'm just wondering what will happen to the planet in general, because we're billions and growing. Maybe a 3rd world war will be forced to diminish the world's population? Or climate change might do its job and make those that can't afford climatization die (those jobless and/or poor).

What are some online translation services that aren't complete botnets?
I translated a few russian pages on google and after I turned off my adblocker to check something I'm getting ads from travelling agencies for trips to Moscow.
>>
>>60773181
Was that Google Translate? Google seems to have a hair trigger on ads: a friend sent me some comments about getting married and Google helpfully started sending me ads on mail order brides. Desperately clicking on the abuse icon and "have seen this already, thank you very much" didn't help much. Instead I get ads from Russian second hand mail order brides! No matter what I do the ads accompanying search results when logged in are a social disaster area way out of control.

So now it is DDG for me.
>>
>>60773834
Fun fact: DDG's founder has previously sold data, etc. Also it's infested with ads now. But what else is there? StartPage sounds good on paper but the results are, somehow, truly abysmal. Everything else is garbage.
>>
>>60773919
I have a strong feeling Google results are worse now than before, hits I saw earlier for topics I monitor are often gone and new hits are hard to find. Also it is too easy to swamp the search results with irrelevant gunk.

Perhaps time to check out Bing.
>>
>>60774234
I was considering the same thing. I occasionally use it on a Windows phone I have, it's inoffensive enough. I've never used it anywhere else but I'm tempted now.

I didn't like Lain. Sure the atmosphere maybe has that touch we all search, but the anime itself is not great, at least in my opinnion.

I just wrote a computer virus and named it Da Vinci.
It targets oil tankers at sea.
You wouldn't believe that most oil tankers use windows xp.
I feel powerful now.

>You wouldn't believe that most oil tankers use windows xp.
That's right. i wouldn't.

I worked in 2 companies supplying large ships and I know a third company and none use XP. Of course this might be something abut the regions of our customers but still,. XP on a vessel sounds strange.

Knowledge is power. It is more true today than it has ever been.

So how do you manage all the bits of knowledge? Knowledge management seems to be an alibi for massive consultancy jobs from which little is achieved.

Anyone got some practical tools? And no, yellow stickers do not count.

That is what I do now but it doesn't scale well. Also while I tend to remember the important parts I strangely tend to forget *where* I learned of a thing and sometimes that can later become important.

>Saving this from page 10.
Thanks.
>Who says the future has to have less neon signs?
Mainly since LEDs are low maintenance and use less energy. Neon tubes tend to be rather fragile.

Addressing one aspect of personal security online doesn't automatically mean you have to address literally all aspects of it on the same post. If you think otherwise, you might be retarded.

If you end your post with "that's enough" then yes, you do have to address all, also in the literal sense of the much abused word.

>If you think otherwise, you might be retarded.
No. It is called reading comprehension.

The entire chain was about add-ons though. Maybe you're just autistic and can't follow the entire conversation, and have to take every post as its own entity, lacking all context?

You know that DDG is DuckDuckGo, right? It usually comes up in discussions of privacy.

Still looking though for more info on the alleged sale of info by DDG.

How do I protect from browser fingerprinting?
https://panopticlick.eff.org/ says my browser fingerprint was unique out of about 400,000 users. Blender seems to be pretty outdated.
>>
>>60808995
blender can't cover everything anymore, stuff like plugins and maybe fonts are entirely open to be queried everywhere. Best way is simply to disable any javascript trying to check them.
