We use SQL at work and everyone says seequel because it's easier to say, in practice when you're talking about such things we'll say whatever requires less effort, I don't care if it's an acronym or not.

I usually say "sequel" since it's faster, unless it doesn't fit well in another name. I say "Postgres Q L" for instance.

But I also say GUI "gooey," so what do I know.
