Roll back software to pre-3.56 i believe.

Oh wait it's too new
>>
>>60707708
that shit only works on the original fat ps3s with old firmware that hasn't been updated
>>
>>60707708
You can't.
>>
>>60707734

>>
>>60707751
>>60707750

i got so exiceted at first, can't i roll back this firmware shit?
>>
>>60707788
You can't downgrade a PS3 below the firmware it originally shipped with.
>>
>>60707788
If it is a super slim then there is no way.
>>
Buy a computer or a laptop
>>
>>60707865
I already own 2, just hate to see how ps3 resting in dust...
>>
>>60707875
Shouldn't have bought a superslim then
>>
>>60707708
Too new. You would need the fat 2006 model of PS3 to do that.
>>
>>60707865
IBM broke petraflops with it
>>
>>60707708
>i got latest superslim
You can't

I've seen services offered where people force downgrade them through clips or soldered connections.

Can these work on the super slim models?
>>
>>60708869
Slims up until mid 2011 work fine as well

>>60708972
No

There's a rumor that Sony going to release a firmware that re allow third party OS near the ps3 EoL date. Dunno whether they'll be useful for anything, since cell performance for watt in floating point ops are already massively overtaken by modern gpus.

HOly shit when's the end of life date?
>>
>>60707708
1. Remove all guts and put rPi3 inside.
2. Install Linux
>>
>>60709177
Dunno, but pretty soon i guess. They might gonna do it for inventory cleaning
>>
>>60709177
PS3 died 2 days ago
>>60709158
yeahhhh ... sureeee...
>>
>>60709228
forget the link: https://archive.fo/XcGi8
>>
>>60709228
Well, if they did release it, just remember that you heard it here first.
>>
>>60709297
there are more chances like a hacker to release a new exploit which works on superslims and latest firmware than sony to release something
>>
>>60707788
It doesn't matter, 256 MB of Ram isn't enough for use as a personal PC anyway. Plus no access to the GPU.
>>
>>60709297
Thank you kindly anon will keep my eyes out for it.

Hopefully fun old tech won't be forgotten.
>>
>>60707708
Depending on the model, It is possible.
Sony has stopped updating and a couple people created a spoofed update that works on 4.81 which will downgrade. Then go grab rebug and petiteboot and red ribbon linux and your good to go.

I don't know if it will work on superslim.
>>
>>60707750
No it doesn't. I have it running on my ps3 slim.
>>
>>60709228
>PS3 died 2 days ago

No it didn't.
>>
>>60707708
You're better off buying an orange pi hd pc
>>
>>60707708
>Hear about Linux on PS3
>Wets himself over it
>Doesn't look into it, no research at all
>Thinking it can be done on all PS3s
>Picks up superslim because there are a crap load of them for sell
>No clue on how to do it
>Asks /g/ on how to do it
>>
>>60709470
we actually do have access to the gpu now

>>60711185
hes truly cancer
>>
>>60711304

You are the cancer.

Your impatience towards anons enthusiasm does a disservice to the hacker spirit.
>>
Is the ps3 still not cracked wide open without hardware mods past that magical firmware whatever it is?
>>
>>60707802
yes you can, you can buy a flasher and flash the chip yourself though its not really worth the money and problems
>>
>>60707708
>superslim
>ssd
This has to be bait. No one is this stupid. Sticking an SSDin there is like connecting to USB via Serial. It ain't go any faster.

>tfw bought PS3 Phat with backwards compatibility and fully hacked for $25 on eBay because the dude didn;t have an HDD installed
be jelly
>>
>>60714202
Seek times will at least be better.
>>
>>60707865
>computer
>or a laptop
>>
>>60714202
Even with SATA1 speeds SSD will be noticeably faster than a HDD. OP is dumb but so are you
