The install guide is REALLY good. You can literally follow it step by step anon and it'll work. I promise you.

That being said, arch-anywhere gives you a pretty basic installer and lets you pick some programs to install from the get go and walks you through some stuff but I do suggest trying to do it on your own

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Linux, is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I've recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux. Linux is not an operating system unto itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning GNU system made useful by the GNU corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full OS as defined by POSIX.

Many computer users run a modified version of the GNU system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of GNU which is widely used today is often called "Linux", and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the GNU system, developed by the GNU Project.

There really is a Linux, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use. Linux is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine's resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Linux is normally used in combination with the GNU operating system: the whole system is basically GNU with Linux added, or GNU/Linux. All the so-called "Linux" distributions are really distributions of GNU/Linux.

"Init freedom" is cancer. You are free to choose your init already and since the beginning. The sole purposes of "Init freedom" is creating a meme based hate community against poettering, a guy who writes free software for the community. Do you really think he should burn in hell for doing so?

Very good talk about Devuan and how it's not a joke attempt, troll attempt or an attempt to stop the progress of Linux. It also talks about the absolutely cancerous rule of RedHat over development of Linux.

>Every benefit of debian
Ancient softwares and garbage configs?
>>
>>60706961
Memes aside point of view:

I'm not against systemd, I'm against the idea that programs should depend on a specific init system, which results in a situation where it's difficult to change the init system when you to. There are people who unironically meme about systemd, Poettering, etc, but systemd itself actually isn't the problem. The problem is the community acceptance of systemd as something every program can freely hard depend to. This is why systemd like Devuan must exist. I wish'd people would meme less about systemd being a problem, stop spreading misinformation about it being botnet and instead tell people about the actual problem. All these "systemd takes over GNU/Linux, sorry Systemd/Linux" memes fundamentally miss the point of the problem.

Just put the speed on 1.25 or 1.50.
It's a lot shorter then.

And you can skip a lot of parts directly relevant to the future of Devuan project.
The most important bit imho is the whole situation about how aggresive was the systemd's takeover over Linux and how shady was the entire adoption of it on Debian.

What's the difference between intalling xubuntu and lubuntu and linux mint if I can just install the desktop environment I want..? Should I just use Ubuntu and change the desktop environment since it's the most "stable"?
>>

When OS is on different physical HDD, the booting would be done by the BIOS/UEFI
Neither of the OSs can interfere with the other booting.

check either ignite, void or obarun github for boot scripts BEFORE you restart

Devuan packages are the same as debian packages.
The only thing they change is pull packages that depend on systemd and modify them to not depend of systemd. It's crucial to ensure that the security patches introduced to stable by debian security team is delivered to devuan users as soon as possible.

So I am mounting all my drives (that aren't / of course) in /run/media/user. But for whatever reason, only one of my drives properly mounts at the start. Any folder I make in /run/media/user is deleted on reboot.

And even though my External_Disk mounts properly, openRC bitches that it couldn't mount. Nothing different from that disk versus the other one I'm trying mountain except file system. Does boot order need to be different?

Any ideas?

I've been running arch for 9 years and this has never been true. You mount things where you want them too. /run is not where you want to be mounting them.Create /media or use /mnt or create a new folder thats named relevant to what you're doing, but dont use /run

Weird how that works then because I remember even reading about an issue people had where their /media directory was moved to /run/media on an update of something. I'll just move it to /media then.

Cheers anon
>>
>>60710049
No idea about what arch does, but in traditional unix /run, /var/run, /usr/run, anything called run is a ramdisk. Meaning all contents vanish after a reboot, including your directory, thus you lose the mount target.

This is obviously advantageous for automounts, so that autocreated directories don't linger, but explicit mounts simply shouldn't be in /run (ephemeral), or /media (which is deemed for automount use only).

Anything that says they only care about your privacy is a scam if they don't care one bit about your anonymity.

One way to figure this out is to open the page's source (ctrl+U) and check if they use google analytics/syndication or similar.

At least check the following:
>webmail without JS
>no third-party scripts
>allows or works well with tor vpn and proxies
>have onion/i2p address

Always remember:
Anonymity is always better than privacy

No evil dataminer gives a shit about information that cannot be 'linked' to a person (or group).

Privacy doesn't matter anymore. There's NSA submarines everywhere that wiretap undersea fiber lines and most ISPs have splitters.
