what are her needs? just a browser and an office suite? .. elementary is very clean, straightforward & smart looking to the point where it beats ubuntu as an entry level distro imo. at the same time it's ubuntu based, so you get package compatibility. i'd recommend replacing the standard icons with the numix theme, the default ones are a bit bland.

curious, how does a woman develop an interest in FOSS? is her husband low key pressuring her or something
