How do I become a truly great programmer? I'm talking wizard level, not just better than the average pajeet.

Practice.
>>
>>60650050
you need to dream in code , then yoo are truly great
>>
>>60650050

actually think about what you want and ask yourself if running arithmetic operations on a machine built to track you is gonna get you there
>>
>>60650050
learn C++
>>
>>60650050
Learn Gentoo
>>
>>60650050
C++ Upon pondering the philosophy is coding, I realize there's not much to unless unless you want to become a hacker.

Learn math, specially linear and regular algebra, and calculus to an extent
>>
>>60652429
I would say linear algebra, probability & stats are useful. calculus is just a prerequisite to probability which is a prerequisite to statistics
>>
>>60650050
Make your own language using a compiler programmed in assembly to build an OS that rivals TempleOS in memery.
>>
>>60652472
Yeah I agree, forgot about prob and stats
But I would insist on regular/abstract algebra as useful for expanding your ways of thinking about problem solving, plus it is actually used in programming languages like Haskell
>>
Programming is program-solving, you can only get as far as your brain allows you to.

Figuring out a program structure, how and what to abstract, orchestrating hundreds of objects and subroutines, readable and maintainable code, preemptive programming, learning the APIS, because in most cases YOU WILL NEED knowledge of the windows/linux kernel or web programming et cetera.

So,
1. train your brain in general program solving
2. actually code something, even if it's shit or a small project. Experience counts
>>
>>60650050
You learn programming kung fu and suck the powers from other programmers.
>>
Why would a robot need a keyboard... why wouldn't it just have an interface?
>>
>>60650050
Start studying and programming, only stop to eat and sleep.

If you're on 4chan you've already lost.
>>
>>60650050
start solving complex real world problems with computing

sitting in front of academia for too long will just turn your brain to rubber
>>
practice every day, read books and papers
