Wow, amazing price/perf AMD.

>$300 ram kits

Maybe if you're buying a 32GB kit sure. Stop being a faggot. Faggot.
>>
Or just buy cheapo 3200MHz Hynix RAM and overclock it like a non-idiot?
>>
>>60633609
>buy ryzen
>it needs special mobo to support your special fast ram
>not to mention you need aio cooling to overclock it to 4ghz because otherwise it'll turn into a housefire past 1.35v
>it's only up to 20% faster than intel cpus from 3 years ago
>still loses in single threaded

mmmmm really activates those neutrons.
>>
>>60633609
You realize Intel scales like that as well right?
>>
>>60633609
poozen
>>
Lol. Intel shills working overtime. Getting worked over by a company with 160 billion less market capital must be humiliating.

PS. Check out cheaper dual rank ECC RAM.
>>
>>60633666
>want to run multiple VMs
>can't get cheap 32GB because performance tanks
yeah nah fuck off
>>
>>60633609
To get those figures you'd need to tune your timings anyway, might as well go for the cheapest 3200MHz RAM you have since timings do better than MHz over that.
>>
>>60633688
>ECC RAM.

NO NO DONT

YOU MUST BUY SERVER CHIPS FOR THE LUXARY OF EEC
>>
>>60633688
ECC is only supported by some ASrock motherboards from what I know.

Which is fine since they do make the best AM4 motherboards.
>>
>>60633609
What about tests using non bugged as fuck games with a fucking wrapper for a render path like Hitman DX12?

>Can't get cheap RAM

Oh yea because an extra $20 for faster ram will really break the bank. Stop being a faggot. Faggot.
>>60633674
>special mobo
You mean literally all of them? 90% of AM4 motherboards now can do 3200mhz kits at 2933mhz out of the box and easily do 320 with minimal tweaking.
>AiO cooling for OC
Lol no. I have a single tower cooler keeping my 1700X at 3.8ghz under 60C

Don't even come to me with that thermal garbage. Meanwhile Delid-lake i7s and 100C temperature spikes. Intel's fix? "Stop overclocking guis plz do the needful and stop"
>20% faster than 3 years ago
You mean just like intel's chips as well? Intel has been giving +1% gains since Ivy
>Still loses in single thread
Yup, marginally. Even Ill admit that. So marginal in fact that its barely worth considering.
>>
>>60633666
How retarded must you bee to get 8GB of RAM in 2017 with an octa core CPU?

It's raining shills up in here. Intel scales with RAM much the same way Ryzen does. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOsYOASddeo
>>60633854
That is 16 (8x2) GB you stupid fuckshit.
>>
>>60633854
I have yet to see a game overdraw 8gb of RAM and have it take more than 3-4fps off of the performance and i play at 4K

8gb is still fine for a gaming rig. The only exceptions are badly optimized games like fallout4 where you need to run two dimms in dual channel or the game gets all kinds of fucked up.

where are you seeing 8GB? Those kits in that pic are 16GB kits. 2x8GB. Unless you're referring to 8GB modules vs 16GB. 16GB module kits are expensive regardless of speed of intended platform. Although now that I'm actively looking, prices have come down some.

yea but the anon has a point. 8GB is cutting it close with todays bloated applications and games. Unless you're on a very tight budget, there is no wrong in going with a 16GB kit.
>>

NOBODY EVER SAID A 8GB KIT ITT YOU FUCKWIZ
>>
>>60633666
Holy shit people are paying that fucking much for 16 gb of fucking ram??? Holy price gouging shit.
>>
>>60634121
Welcome to 2017, it is no longer 2016. RAM prices went up. Across the board. Deal with it.
>>
>>60634121
Prices went up by 70% since the start of the year.
Obviously has nothing to do with Kabylake and Ryzen which really like high speed memory.
>>
>>60633976
Im talking about a single 8gb stick in single channel and then buying another dimm later when you need it.
>>
>>60634151
No longer worth it then...will not upgrade.
>>
>>60634121
its why i held off buying a new system. I refuse to pay that much for generic DDR4 memory.
>>
>>60634151
mainly faggot smartphone users who needed to have the best binned DDR4 SDRAM for their phones. thats why the supply is short and prices went up.

Smartphone users are our equivalent of buttcoin miners.

It's called price fixing dumbasses.

>tfw fell for the 16gb of ram meme and don't even use VM's
>>
>>60634400

It won't improve until next year at least, if you read the latest report from May 18th.

http://press.trendforce.com/press/20170518-2856.html

>>60634433

If you "fell for the 16 GB meme" last year, you could resell your kit for a profit now, no joke. The prices have nearly doubled.
>>
>>60634454
I fell for it last week for muh gaymes
>>
>>60634467
Then you should be able to still return it
>>
>>60633760
Ryzen supports eudimm, but they're slow as fuck (faster ram speed matters to ryzen), and you need a motherboard that supports running it with ECC enabled.
>>
>>60633891
>Intel scales with RAM much the same way Ryzen does

WHAT REDTEAM+ WON'T TELL YOU
>>
>>60634400
>It's called price fixing dumbasses.

People forget when ddr3 prices shot through the roof for no reason. It was to get consumers used to high priced ram before ddr4 became "standard".
>>
faggOP never heard of RAM overclocking.
>>
>>60633609
>RAM is expensive
>LOL you only need expensive for AMD CPUs!!1
