Pascal is just maxwel with a few tweaks. All of the performance gains are from moving this maxwell arch to 16nm finFEt from 28nm. So dont expect any clockspeed gains going forward.

Nvidia is literally going to use maxwel forever. They could give a fuck if you like it because their real money is deep learning.

AMD is the same. The Vega card s a deep learning card designed to run in parallel on huge datasets. Any game performance is incidental.

"Volta" will be identical in every way to pascal and they will increase the selling price of every tier.

A GTX 2070/2080 is going to be identical to the titanXP/1080ti. The x70 variant will be GDDR5 and sell for 500$ the x80 will be 650-700$ and will be only 5-10% faster than a titanXP

GTX 1060/1060ti is going to be an even bigger kick in the dick. The full chip (1060ti) will be identical to the gtx 1080 and will cost you 350-400$
The gtx 1060 is going to be a bit faster than the 1070 but its memory bus will be gimped from the full 256-bit. and the CUDA cores will be cut down to around 2000-ish. same TFLOPS and only a tiny bit more memory bandwidth due to GDDR5x/6

same cuts down the line.

The new titan will have around 5300 CUDA cores and either a 384-bit or 512-bit memory bus. and they will charge 1400-1500$ for it and it will release first. 6-7months later you will get a 2080ti that will be cut down to 4800-5000 and sell for 900-1000$


Vega at the top end will still be slower than a 1080ti. Dual Vega in SLI will be another story but the single GPU performance varies from a gimped vega selling at 400$ thats a little bit faster than the 1070 and a full vega thats only halfways between the 1080 and 1080ti.

AMD will not BTFO nvidia and Nvidia will increase their prices half of a tier across the board. No clock-speed improvements. Just more cores, slightly faster memory and a higher price tag.

I can see your point in your assumptions. I don't think volta will bring a great boost in performance either. Vega also definitely is an enterprise design that also happens to be usable for gaymers but we can expect an unerwhelming piece of shit that's been delayed for months~
