Sounds like a driver problem. I guess Android doesn't have drivers for your car. Gentoo does though, try installing it

That cable in pic has 4 pinouts, one of them is for video/mic which may cause problems (?) I'd try regular audio aux with 3 pinouts on the 3,5 connector
