How do you remember the syntax for this?
Is there a more verbose syntax I can use that is more intuitive?
if you use a command all the time, you'll memorize it's syntax.
the hardest I use normally is tar.
c - create
x - xtract
v - verbose
z - gzip
j - bzip2
J - xz
f - fil

pacman -S to install package
pacman -Ss to search
pacman -Syu to upgrade
pacman -Rs remove package and all dependencies that are unnecessary now
you don't need much more
just make aliases if you prefer

I have them all memorized, I think I memorized them in my first week using Arch because you use them so much.
If I find myself needing something else I just read the manpages. You even know what the man command is?
>>60613039
I like to use pacman -Rsun to remove. It's a bit more thourough.
>install gentoo
>USE emerge
>>60613039
-Qs to search local packages
-Qe to list explicit installed packages
-Qqe > packages.txt to export them in a list with just package name for future installations.
also man pacman and https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/pacman
if everything is too hard create aliases in your shell.

to install them back pacman -S $(< /path/to/packages.txt)
>>60612793
I aliased my most-used ones and don't really bother about the others. Ie:
pm search -Ss
pm update -Syy
pm upgrade -Syyu
pm remove -Rs
pm list -Q
pm install -S
