What's the difference between
.jpg
.JPG
.JPEG
?
Are they they all the same thing?
yes you retard
they're all extensions, which are the most pleb way of determining file type
>>60572570
Extensions are actually mostly meant to help humans tell files apart than the software.
Except for Windows for some reason. Mostly something leftover from them DOS days.
>>60572570
The first one is lower-case and the last one has an additional letter
You're welcome anon!
>>60572570
Other than that the extension is only part of the filename and doesn't change what the file's content actually is, JPEG format or else
basic google search you faggot. stop using computers you faggot.
b& this faggot
>>60572702
can you say faggot few more times, faggot?
DOS' FAT filesystems had this annoying limitation where filenames could only be 8 characters + 3 characters for the extension so three character file extensions were popular throughout the 80s and into the 90s. Eventually windows fixed it but remnants of this stupidity remain.

Why are jpegs the only file type that does this? I've never seen anything like ".pdf" and ".PDF" or something.
jpg is what we had to start using for JPEG because Microsoft only supported 3 letter file extensions
The OSes which have file name sensitivity are also the ones that ignore file extensions
>>60572727
The snipping tool on Windows saves things as .PNG
It almost makes sense for extensions which are also acronyms
>>60572570
Next time ask in /sqt/. A thread had to die for this.
>>60572745
>file name sensitivity
file name *case sensitivity
>>60572727
>>60572570
Case on windows machines doesn't matter you retards.

Ah yes, I remember the good old days of file type spoofing. I miss audio files executing code.
