For those of you who have jobs in the computer science or software field, do you enjoy your job?
Yes. Greatly. C++ developer.

I don't know
c/c++ unix sw developer, idk
Yes when working on fresh projects and allowed to use my brain. No on legacy commercial software that i deem superflous and do not care about. Sadly working is 80% the latter for me.
You're probably in high enough demand that you can do whatever you want. But thanks for taking the cuck jobs so I don't have to. Keep it up!
>SAP Consultant
I do enjoy my job even though some times are very slow and others super stressful. Pay is excellent and it keeps my mind very active.

Be honest, you brought this on yourself.

Yep.
I wish I could quit and write full time but otherwise, see above.

Interdlesding...
I enjoy it.mostly but im sad that im a php web developer. Would prefer to do more Java server / enterprise applications.
As a contractor making bank in my pyjamas I love it. If I was sitting at a desk all day I probably wouldn't.

No. It's uninspired shit work.

Teach me/where can I learn?
Is it possible to get data out of the SAP with a program you wrote (in house)?
I enjoy programming.
But I work for the government so I spend a ton of time on not-programming because of regulations.
Plus the government is fucking slow at everything.

That was 3 years ago. We ask every 6 months or so.

this
writing software is fun. Writing software for pants-on-head retarded clients like banks is not.

Why would unix be bad/depressing?
Follow up question: how old were you when you started programming?

So administering Unix is like maintaining COBOL software?
