Use OBS. It handles NVENC very well and you get a free "do it yourself" interface where you can set everything up just the way you like it.

Youtubers like markiplier for example use a resolution of 3840x1080. He puts his cam coder on the left which is 1080 and his game on the right and records on 2 separate audio channels one dedicated to the game and the other to the microphone.

Brilliant method of recording a single clip and having to do minimal edits in premiere or vegas.

Don't even try, I wanted another program too when Geforce Experience turned into full shit. I tried several programs and codecs. NVENC still drains FPS. I wanted to record BF1 on my 1070 which barely runs at 60 FPS, it dropped to 45 when I recorded. With Shadowplay it will drop to 58. I don't know which kind of magic Nvidia uses, but it works.
