There's a book you can pirate on libgen.io called "What Color is Your Parachute" which describes how to get a job in present day.

You will learn the following
- 80% of all jobs are never posted public (hacker news agrees, many threads on this)
- of the ones that are posted, many are either fake (recruiter bait and switch) or they are only there to satisfy H1B requirements, in other words company has no intention of paying above min wage for the position so they advertise and just shred any resumes they receive hoping to import a pajeet java developer
- the jobs left over, are flooded with resumes many with people that have masters+ degrees you will have to compete with.

The book is pretty good at teaching you how to manipulate this shitty system if you don't know anybody, as said above 80% jobs are through networking.

Failing that just work on open source software and people will come to you, it's how I got my first job after about 4 months on the Debian mailing list being helpful some guy liked my commits and hired me for a specific contract project, then he recommended me to somebody else, networking beings ect ect.
