there's tools out there that block pretty much everything. Apart from that undisclosed backdoor the NSA has, pretty sure it's os agnostic though

You could have made a way better OP with a proper title like "Windows 10 Enterprise ignores security settings"

That would catch the attention of anyone who is important enough to care about this sort of thing (like maybe an IT manager at a company that could make a decision to not upgrade to or use Windows 10)

Instead you posted a shitty picture with BTFO BTFO and no thread title.

windows 10 ignores your hosts files for a few m$ update services for security, they are stored in a dll which can be conveniently removed or blocked with a firewall.

They have been doing this for the past 10 years

I've been waiting for some curious scientist-minded person to do exactly what this twitter guy did with Windows 10. We now have proof that Windows 10 sends telemetry even when the user sets group policy to block telemetry. The only thing left to do is reveal the exact info contained in the telemetry. If there is any personal information of any kind that can link the telemetry to the specific user or location, there should be a global movement for a massive class action lawsuit against Microsoft. If nothing else, such a movement would draw so much attention to the oppressive and fascist nature of the big tech giants, and perhaps we can finally have Congress begin anti-trust proceedings against Microsoft and splinter it into a dozen small companies.

If what this twitter guy has done can be replicated and verified by others, this is a crime against humanity and Microsoft needs to be ended.

Like every other operating system.

People call it Linux because they are mislead by the media, which is sponsored by companies who obviously dislike to speak in terms of freedom, so they avoid "GNU" and "Free Software" and instead shill "Open Source" and "Linux".
If you call it Linux, you play for their team and help them censoring thoughts about freedom, which is the source the community was built on. This is the main problem, not the nitpicking about correct terminology.

>That would still require that they get past the hardware firewall in your router.
This assumes a few things:
1. That you will never want to send or receive data from any address that may be compromised with data meant for your "security" co-processor.
2. You only use HTTPS and other encrypted connections to prevent any MITM type attacks.
3. Your router itself doesn't have any exploits.

Considering the website you are using right now is not protected with HTTPS, and anyone can freely upload data meant for your best friend (who else would you trust with the security of your computer?), you are certainly violating points 1 and 2.
>>
>>60524115
And you know this how?
You have your router keep a list of connections made and you check this list often and cross reference it with all the connections you willingly made?

Some people will outclaim you saying "Microsoft just wants data to help your searches and how you interact with the pc :) it's better!"

And yes, they are right too, the line between privacy-non-privacy is very thin.

The only way you can fight this, is changing the culture by teaching people how to use Linux.

All I know is that the servers they connect to are related to windows update. If I turn that off along with time sync and certificate-checking it's silent save for a handshake over HTTP that clears the triangle "network limited" warning icon over the network status icon. I looked at it in wireshark and it's the same information sent every time. So the most they get is my IP address.
