windows is set to manage pagefile on its own. i didn't change anything.

i know linux is superior in both memory and swap. you can easily get away with 16gb on linux. but windows 16gb is not enough anymore if you use your computer more than just a masturbation machine.

all i have open is edge with two tabs and steam minimized to the system tray. if i'll reboot and sit at my desktop with nothing running, including steam, i'll be hovering around 1.7gb usage. but once you start adding uptime and windows starts caching shit, ram usage goes up. and windows doesn't like letting it go.

it was worse though. i did lower ram usage by turning off background apps and purging most of the metro shit.

Just picked up a 16gb kit to expand up to 32. Compartmentalizing everything in nice fat, juicy VMs is going to be excellent. Wish I had a second network card in this laptop dock to dedicate to passthrough, though.
