Are Dell's Latitude laptops good? I can get an E7470 somewhat cheap.

Dell's in general are pretty good. Some may be underpowered, but I have never seen a Dell actually fail. Kind of the Toyota of computers with their reliability.
I've generally heard good things. However, if in the market for a pre-owned business-class laptop, I'd prefer a thinkpad.

They are pretty damn good like all Dells. If you found a model you like on the Dell online store, I can hit you up with a coupon code up to 15% off.
Don't fuck yourself up by buying a shitty Mac or Chinkpad.

yeah check the outlet to see if your "somewhat cheap" is as good
I'd never suggest buying a dell without an extended warranty. Something invariably fails and you'll be out a lot of money if you don't have the warranty to get it fixed.
You basically have to consider the warranty part of the cost of the laptop. If you don't, you'll be sorry.

But that applies for all laptops though

>Something invariably fails
I have never known a Dell to fail. Everyone I know has a Dell something.

I have an e7470 ( i5, 8gb) for work. It's comfy, great battery life, solid construction, very nice res matte screen. I don't do any computationally expensive work really, just windows admin stuff, never ran into a performance issue. I was looking into getting a 72xx model for personal use, but I can't justify it since I take my work computer home anyway. If the price is right, go for it.
They are great. Especially the Precision and Latitude series. The cheaper consumer lines are shit, though.

These. I use one for work and in general, it does what I need it to. If you can get it for cheap, it's worth it. If it doesn't suit your need, I wouldn't be surprised if maybe someone in the family, etc. will be a perfect fit for it.

I have a latitude E6330 and it's really good.

Yes, dell's business class laptops are all good. Personally I prefer the precision series' thicker design so i went for a precision m4700, didnt regret it, awesome quality stuff

This. I have two Latitude and an Inspiron business series laptops. They're easy fix or upgrade.

i've got an e6320, it's nice, really well built.
Latitude are good, they are durable, easy to maintain and well supported.
Like Thinkpads tho, the screens are usually pretty bad so always go for the IPS (E7470 should have one ?)
You can't go wrong, it's not consumer-grade, it's way better.

Things I like about Dell; Still has support for hardware ports, serial and parallel. Onsite support, accidental damage support. Multinational warranty though its a pain to xfer.

I'm looking at an E5470 as a solution for when the 3rd Gen i7 dual core in my X230 no longer cuts it as I need to do more and more computation on my laptop. The next model up - the E5480 claims to have a thunderbolt 3 option. would make for a pretty great sturdy quad core laptop to tie to an eGPU and do graphics with. I wish they'd put thunderbolt 2 in the E5470 because it'll go cheaper faster but oh well.
