but I can write software for each button to do anything. And the mouse is the same price as your meme mice and it lasts much longer

My Mx518 looked about the same in the end too. Probably lasted somewhere around 5 years. After that it's been trying out Razer/Cyborg bullshit, all which cost insanely more and broke within 2 years.

Ironically Logitech G600 was the one to get closest despite behing half the price from other mice I had, but even it didn't last until the end of its warranty period.

If you take it apart and give it a fucking THOROUGH cleaning with q-tips and alcohol, she'll probably last another five plus years. The only thing that can't be fixed on this mouse is plastic wear.

Also, I got mine free as a hand me down.
My a/v prof. left and happened to leave a bunch of his shit, including his extremely dirty to the point of malfunction. He used that thing for years. Anyway, new prof. made a trash pile of random shit, mouse included, and so I snagged it, cleaned it up, and it's been my main mouse for over a year now, and I have no plans of switching soon.
