I work as a software engineer. Some of the best programmers I work with didn't learn how to code -at all- until they were passed their 30s.

I started developing when I was 16 and I'm 27 now. However, there are some people who have only been programming a few years that I absolutely take advice from. It's never too late to start. Just start and be consistent with practicing. Eventually you'll be amazed at what you can do.

It's not about age as it is frame of mind, lots of people have picked stuff up even at old age, but you have to inherently attuned to a certain way of processing information.

If you want to pick up music, you actually have to be good at hearing music, some people will listen to a song and immediately notice any issues with the recording, while others won't care. Give that person an instrument and formal training and they may get pretty good at it.

If you want to pick up art, some people also have a general knack for it, give them a brush and they'll do a reasonably good impression of what they see right away, all they need is formal training so that their technique is up to par with their vision.

Coding and math both require highly abstract thinking because unlike just about anything else, there is no "physical" representation for what you're manipulating, which the human brain wasn't evolved to process naturally. Coding is worse than math in that regard, because with math you can at least imagine shapes and situations representing the problem, but code won't compile until it's already complete.
