So I'm looking to get a new free antivirus and I've done a bit of research. I'm looking at either malwarebytes or bitdefender, both seem good, but I've heard some things about malwarebytes that make it seem more like a secondary defender, rather than something that's always frontlining your defenses. Recommendations?

Just use malwarebytes and windows defender
antiviruses profit off of peoples retardation
>>60489475
bitdefender free is goat
ive compared them all for long times and bd is the only one ive come to like
mbam is nice but only a supplement. considering a license because of their reputation but nothing ever happens to me so it seems a waste

Use Malwarebytes every so often to scan for viruses. If you feel like you have to have something active, use Avast Free.

>he likes daily ad popups about some shit blog, sale, or news item and noticeable delays in opening files
>>60489597
I currently use avast and I'm going to upgrade computers which is why I'm asking. I feel like avast is too bloated and it gets pretty annoying.
>>60489475
Sophos. No other option.
>>60489628
enterprise meme
MWB is definitely not meant to be used standalone.
Kapersky is GOAT because they pay RUS malware authors for early access to develop countermeasures.
If you're Jewish get any of the free ones on the /g/ wiki. Avoid Avast and AVG.

>>60489624
When did that happen? Ah well, I haven't used AV for years so I guess I'm out of the loop.
>>60489656
The pro version is tho
Microsoft Windows Defender ans MWB is enough. Kaspersky is a virus developed by former kgb agents.
>>60489475
I've used Malwarebytes free and premium and it sometime doesn't detect a sample. Whereas most top antivirus softwares detect the sample. Mbam was good back in the day but now it's a bit lacking.
>>60489597
>Avast Free.
yeah free to download abs maybe because you need to paid for delete virus or anything basically. I used that shit and nothing ever was found

NOD32.
For the license key, just search in google "NOD32 serial license Facebook".
it will link to FB and copy the serial from the comments section.
v3 of malwarebytes is dogshit on computers that aren't performance machines.
sticking with v2
>>60489475
just use the generated keys for malwarebytes, it stays premium and never expires, the key can even be reused.
>>60489475
I laugh at this thread because you only really need windows defender or malware bytes + an adblocker.
I used to pirate NOD32 keys years ago. It's a good AV but I got tired of trying to keep up with the keys constantly getting blacklisted. For the last 6 years or so I've only used MSE (defender). Despite the bad rep it gets, I've never had an infection while using. Lately I've been running MWB anti-exploit and BitDefender anti-ransomwar as well.

Avira or Eset paid for internet security
Malware bytes free for malware scanning
what's the best antivirus program for linux?
>>60489475
Windows Defender now that Microsoft is serious and selling it to Enterprise.
Hey, few days ago I just read, there is a security firm that doing and audit AV that could prevent from wannacrypt kernel exploit (NSA), it's pretty shock result, only 3 AV that passed the audit. which is F-Secure, Kaspersky & Eset (Internet security, builtin IDS/IPS)
>>60493692
you can update using mirror update if you are using eset below version 8.
>>60489475
Malwarebytes premium is quality and protects from most if not all shit you'll come across online (barring user errors). Though you did specify free so I'd get an active defender like avast as a supplement. You're right to assume that the free version shouldn't be used as a standalone.
Can someone get me a key for MalwareBytes? I upgraded to v3 with my premium code and i think they detected im jewing them cause it's not letting me update the database
>>60494166
redownload it, there was a database bug
>tfw old mbam version wont update from servers anymore
I hate the new interface, I wanted to use the same version that's on Hiren's
comes free with my internet. its lightweight and quiet.
>>60489624
>>60489597
>Avast
That shit downloaded itself onto my computer and gave me malware. It may be good, but I'm avoiding it like the plague.
>>60489628
>literally blocked access to the wannacry killswitch domain
>>60497435
>downloaded itself onto my computer and gave me malware
that wasn't avast then.....
>>60497435
maybe you are just retarded
what /g/ think of scanning things with virustotal ?
I started scanning keygen and .exe with virustotal and I'm a bit confused when results are mixed. I know about false positive but I'm also paranoid
How to know if something is really a virus ?
And to feed the thread, commodo is often recommended here
>>60497661
>comodo firewall
the best i've ever used in the past 10 years
>>60497661
>I'm a bit confused when results are mixed
This is a problem for me too. I never know if they're trying to make a statement against piracy tools, or if it's a legit virus. Who do you trust? The Jew or the thief?
How do people feel about Avira? Been using it for years, works well anecdotally.
>>60493787
Do you mean Avira paid? Sorry.
