in 10 years most of your desktop programs and phone applications will be written in javascript. pic related and atom are only the beginning. performance wont be an issue when every other laptop will have at least 16gb of ram.
it will basically be C for projects close to the hardware, and javascript for anything else.

Until then the Electron fad has either died or DOM APIs and GC support have catched on in WebAssembly and I don't have to use JS.
Ideally, HTML has become less cancerous as well.
