Why is youtube-dl so inconsistent when streaming from twitch? Some days it's buttery smooth, some days it cant even keep a 1s buffer. Meanwhile streamlink always powers through. If it were shitty internet, wouldn't both streamlink and youtube-dl be stuttery pieces of shit?

Delete the partition, resize the other one to take up the now-empty space.

I don't think there's a way to merge partitions preserving data, so you'll need to back it up, proceed as above, then copy it back manually.

- If you're getting rind of windows you don't need the 100 MiB NTFS partition either.
- At some point you'll appreciate having a real filesystem for your data rather than NTFS. Maybe rather than extending the NTFS partition you'd be better off making a new ext4 (or xfs, zfs, btrfs, pick your poison) storage partition. .

Am thinking of switching desktop environments from KDE to Mate. However, if you think still bother me. Is there a way to make windows dial into quarters enmity? In KDE I can make a window occupy one quarter of the screen and it doesn't seem to work in Mate. I'm also looking for a equipment to KRunner. Not too sure about the error in english but I'm assuming your client is complaining about not having permission to read the file from its source

Just set your media folder to r/w permissions using "chmod -R". Then restart the client and see if it's fixed

There should be documentation about what the correct permissions are.

Is it worth it to install Arch if I'm on Ubuntu 17.04? Ubuntu has this weird as fuck behaviour of randomly thinking that the focus of every window should be the top bar (pic related) so that I can't type anything, and nothing I try can stop it. Anyone in here have experience making custom cursor themes? I've been at this all night at peak autism, converting all these things in GIMP from .png to .xmc files, and now that I've got them all together, in the proper folder, with the index.theme file, they don't fucking show up, and I have no idea at what part of the process I've fugged it.

how do I make GNOME not lag when going to the overview/pressing super key? The animation is fairly fast, but it seems really choppy, like 20fps. Is it normal for tmux to make the user@host prompt and all the results of 'ls' white? I seem to be able to display colours since they work everywhere else, and in a normal bash prompt it will colour files and folders differently.
Setting the default terminal to "screen-256color" or any other working option doesn't change this.

Mint was compromised a while ago, I don't know if it was fixed but I don't see the point of trying it out when Xubuntu is perfectly fine.

Xubuntu is Ubuntu under the hood, but the DE (Unity) is replaced with XFCE which is more lightweight, has no Amazon bullshit and, in my opinion, looks nicer. A bit old-fashioned when not configured but it gives you plenty of options to make it look more modern, if you care enough.

last i checked, mint uses slightly different repos/packages. vanilla ubuntu "just works" so i like to start there and customize as necessary for workstations. for servers, i use centos. if i had unlimited time/money, i'd go back to arch or even gentoo.

My programming tutor didn't give a shit what we compiled on as long as it worked on his machine. However, I was forced to use shit like LabVIEW *shudder*, MATLAB and other proprietary simulation programs because I'm an EE. That kind of sucked. Eventually I just outright refused to do the assignments. We always worked in groups so I had my fellow students do it, wrote the reports for them to earn my grade and lobbied for the adoption of GNU/Linux (unsuccessfully so far).
My current workplace lets me choose my own software dev tools so I've set up a mostly free system now. However, they plan on releasing my programs under a nonfree license despite being a research institute, which is why I'm currently looking to switch. Got a nice offer for firmware development at another institute.

I'm running Fedora 25 WS (GNOME) with wayland on a Dell XPS 15 9560. I've got bumblebee with managed repos installed and shit worked great in the past. Latest kernel update 4.10.15 also seemed to work but yesterday GNOME Software showed nVIDIA driver update and I installed it. Now laptop becomes completely unresponsive after login or after waiting to long on login screen. Older kernels same problem. Rescue kernel works but has short 1~2sec freezes. What do?
