I used to play a lot of games but in the past 1 year I got so bored of them, I want to try something else.
I want to start learning a programming language and I decided to go with Java. I was between that and Python.
Do you have any good books that you would recommend to learn the basics and get me started ?

Thanks, I'll definitely check this tonight.

I saw another website called codecademy that has java courses, any thoughts on that one?

Don't use books
It's very limited
Try udemy
Codecademy
Tutorials point
Youtube boston academy
And trust me there are a lot of pajeeths who teach good in youtube..
Good luck mate!

I believe Python is easier to learn basic programming. It's cleaner and simpler.

I'm not sure about codeacademy. I didn't learn basic programming from a book or a tutorial so I don't really know how to evaluate them. As for this udemy course, I watched this guy's spring tutorial as a refresher and it was quite nice, so I figured his basic java tutorial would be good as well.

You're making a terrible mistake.
