when packages in debian 9 are already old and it hasn't even been released yet.
explain to me why you need the NEWEST linux kernel other than for showing off the biggest NUMBER in desktop threads.

Superior hardware compatibility, likely utilizes the hardware more efficiently, bugfixes.

What are backports?
>using Debian on anything other than old Pentiums and servers that are older than your nieces and nephews.
>>60455827
Half-assed solutions which can cause more bugs than needed. Just upgrade the kernel man, never killed anybody.
>>60455894
I do, but I'm pretty sure I don't need to.
>>60455943
Well with an Nvidia card it is less likely that you have hardware that benefits from upgrading it. Still, depends on the other stuff in there too.
>>60455989
That's what I have been seeing lately, everything seems to be upgrades for AMD hardware. Although I have been seeing some updates to DRM related material.
>>60456066
Still no DAL/DC, it is ridiculous how long it is taking AMD to get that code into merge worthy state. I rock an RX480 and I'm on mesa too so every upgrade counts.
>>60456155
Oh ya I understand your pain. I have an A6 laptop and every update to mesa and the kernel was improving performance. I will be building a new rig in the next year or so and I need Naples to kick some ass. I want to go Radeon as well but it seems it needs some time to mature on linux.
>>60456224
At least instead of my card aging and getting worse and worse performance under the newer versions my OS, it unlock even more performance with every update, take that wincucks.
>>60455591
At some point Debian fags will have to admit they're delusional fanboys.
>>60456330
It depends on what you want. I don't give a shit about the bleeding-edge stuff. If you do, there's dozens of other distros.

>GNOME shell
systemd?
