I'm running Ubuntu with unity. I've heard that KDE is faster and less resource intensive. If I install KDE alongside unity and log in to KDE at the startup screen will I get the same advantages?
Also is KDE really faster? By how much?
If your computer is less than 10 years old it doesn't matter. Use whatever interface you like better.

KDE uses more resources than Unity. It's more customizable though.
Gnome with right extensions is superior to both.

I'm using gnome, but am not really a huge fan. What extensions are you talking about ?
>>60445881
No it doesn't you idiot. KDE Plasma is surprisingly light on resources.
I just got Ubuntu Gnome to see what 18:04 is gonna look like and I wanna put a single sidebar/dock on the right side of the screen (like in Win 7)
Any tips which extension does that?
Also, whose idea was it to make their extension frameweork depend on a shitty firefox plugin?

Impossible
You cant move the top bar, best you can do is to hide it permanently
>>60445971
It doesnt depend on it, you can install them Manually. It was just the easiest way for them to Distribute Extensions.

>You cant move the top bar
Can you at least make the top bar behave like unity/macOS where it merges with the application top bar?
Otherwise it's just a stupid waste of space

Want to know this too, I can never seem to make it as pretty as some of the GNOME ricers on here.
Why dont you install and check that out?
You can switch DE's whenever you want if you dont know -_ -

use MATE or XFCE
