Apple doesn't fucking care about you, it was all for the media. They have backdoors in their devices.
Not to mention that the FBI was able to get into the device anyways.

Your definition of "fact" is at variance with common sense.
The FBI said they got in but had nothing to show for their efforts and Law Enforcement still want Apple to build them a tool to crack iPhones. Doesn't sound like they have a working tool to me.
>>
>>60420434

If you start idolizing a company over doing what literally everyone should be doing in the first place, that should be a red flag.

this only worked because it's an older phone model, any phone from the past 3 years is not affected by this.

meanwhile, android still fucking sucks at anything security related

>>
>>60423226
Well, the company they contracted (Celebrite) did all of the work, and they were only able to get in because it was an iPhone 5C which doesn't have a secure element. They wouldn't have beeb able to crack anything with one (iPhone 5S and up).
>>
>>60420434
Wrong.

I know a lot of people want to suck Apple's dick, and Apple has a lot of dick available for sucking, but this ransomware doesn't "validate" them refusing to unlock that iPhone.

First, there was a lot of validation at the time.
Second, Apple themselves have created a product (a lightning Touch ID) that shows the level of security is not as high as claimed (a Touch ID that was not paired with the device can be used, which means there is a form of master key in the secure enclave).
Third, it doesn't mean that Apple doesn't have backdoors into their devices they are maintaining and just not sharing, which is probably even worse than using them to help the FBI get into the device.

there's a high chance that they couldn't repeat the process for a large number of phones (i.e. it took a lot of resources)

there's also a high chance that they are straight up lying about it, and/or not telling the whole truth

apple conforms to legal request for user data. which in most cases only includes server logs because device password, your fingerprints and your icloud backup encryption key never leaves your device.

apple denies making a monkey tool that allows governing bodies to crack in to any idevice under the sun

THERE IS A FUKKEN DIFFERENCE

Yes, Apple not letting the government look into their phones is a good thing. Nobody is arguing that. This is literally the only good thin apple has been doing.
>>
MS and apple lately. it's not okay for the government to compromise users with archaic practices and values but it's okay if THEY do it.

fucking hypocrites.
>>
>>60426364
Apple denies it but that doesn't mean it's true.

Remember how the FBI suddenly was just able to break the encryption with the help of a "third party"? Apple unlocked it for them still. Tim Cook just didn't want to let them do it with his public consent so he looks good.

>Tim Cook just didn't want to let them do it with his public consent so he looks good.
But they still made this quote.

Mr. Sewell, the Apple lawyer, explained to the committee that before F.B.I. officials ordered the password reset, Apple first wanted them to try to connect the phone to a “known” Wi-Fi connection that Mr. Farook had used. Doing so might have recovered information saved to the phone since October, when it was last connected to iCloud.

“The very information that the F.B.I. is seeking would have been available, and we could have pulled it down from the cloud,” he said.

Apple didn't supplied the tool, third party used this 300$ box and billed bazillion dollars.
Mind you this exploit was fixed with a software patch.
