Honestly, it was a good learning experience to do it myself. And now if anything goes wrong I have a pretty nice understanding of the system. Also, why such a beefy processor with a 580?

its true that building a computer yourself wont save anything because prebuilts are so cheap now. you can get higher quality parts if you build yourself tho. only nice thing in prebuilts are that they use green pcb motherboards that you cant get into your own builds because all that is sold are ugly gamer boards.

The biggest issue there is the power supply. Prebuilts have awful power supplies usually, and some cases are too small to fit a standard ATX PSU.

Cases aren't that expensive though, I've got a few nice ones just sitting around that I've picked up from clients and at yardsales.
