>OSes to choose from for everyday use
Come on, who in their right mind would run BSD for everyday forchan shitposting? Or run Android on their PCs? Obviously Android for a phone and Windows or Linux for your PC, unless you want to have the full Apple set.

Debian or Mac OS X are the best daily drivers depending on the kind of software you use. OS X is good if you enjoy a Unix-like operating system and you need Adobe or Autodesk software. Debian is good for everything else, and is also Unix-like. It works best with MATE on low end systems, but for higher end computers I recommend KDE. Stay away from XFCE (broken and ugly) and Gnome (space wasting UI). If you want to check out some cool alternative/hobbyist operating systems, I recommend FreeBSD, Haiku OS, Kolibri OS, or React OS. Mac OS 9 running in SheepShaver is pretty cool too. The pleb-tier operating systems include Arch, Windows, iOS, Ubuntu, and any version of Android that isn't Lineage OS.

don't be an edgie snewflaak OP, choose between the other 2, the rest are useless and nothing is made for FreeBSD or Linux, they suck. Feel free to choose any between Android/iOS though.

>>60335486
Install Solus and stop thinking about it.

What vexes me most is that you can't pick one without making a compromise of some sort. Instead of choosing the best you are stuck with choosing the lesser evil in relation to your needs.

Hi /g/ Whats the best distro for an sysadmin? I'm mostly just virtualizing servers/testlabs and making notes on my laptop. I already have a decent gaming pc at home so I don't even game on this machine. Would like to hear whats my best option..
>>
>>60336825
how do you do that i thought templeos was non-networked
>>
>>60335595
Tech illiterates that only use youtube/facebook would fall into the mainstream Linux category as well. They literally wouldn't be able to tell the difference and would not fuck the system up every week.
>>
Linux is basically just one OS and there's several organizations providing it, each has their own infrastructure but otherwise the OS performs about the same.
>>
>>60335486
>hurr why am I not governed by one company
>why do I have the free will to choose and have opinions

If you don't care about AAA games, go with Linux Mint or GNOMEbuntu.
Or just dual boot.
>>
>>60335486
Start with Linux probably a *buntu and then as your skill and comfort grows move to a distro that better suits your individual personality.

Avoid windows and non-free software entirely if you can. Video games are for children.
>>
>>60335486
Windows if you want to be able to access DRM'd streaming services and need more than basic shit like text editors and web browsers. Otherwise Ubuntu is pretty good. The "hardcore" distros are for kids who don't have much real need for their PCs.

FreeBSD is the only choice
>>
>>60343032
it's probably Shrine, which is a fork of TempleOS that has network support and other things

https://github.com/minexew/Shrine
>>
>>60344114
Not Shrine, Uriel on TempleOS standard distro.
>>
>>60340605
What are you compromising by not using templeos?
>>
>>60342287
ubantu or debian if you are bit more purist. if you need specific tools, you can just boot kali from a flashdrive
>>
>>60343556
Back when I was fixing computers for people, if I had an older client that was constantly having me come out for virus issues, I'd install Lubuntu, formatted to look like Windows, with custom scripts, acting as shortcuts to programs equivalent to what they were using before. Most of them never noticed the difference, but still asked me to come out and scan their computers every few months just to be sure.
